104-year-old abuelita lives out her hoop dreams

If I ever live to be 104-years-old, I hope I have as much fight as Theresa Sanchez.__ Two weeks ago she was on her death bed, but in recent days recovered enough to attend her first NBA game and watch the San Antonio Spurs beat the Portland Trail Blazers.

Attending the basketball game is monumental for Sanchez and not just because she was decked out in Spurs gear and wearing sneakers signed by Argentinian guard Manu Ginóbili. There's more to the story. Her passion for the Spurs started more than 30 years ago as a way to bond with her son.  Back then the Spurs were known as the Dallas Chaparrals. Talk about a long-term relationship!

Sanchez is known to watch Spurs games with the same enthusiasm as my mom has for her novelas. Sanchez sits in front of the TV while eating her dinner and cheers for her team.  And over the years, Sanchez's eyesight worsened, her family got her a large screen TV so she could keep up with the Spurs.

To say watching the Spurs at the AT&T Center is a dream come true is an understatement.

We all have a bucket list. What's on yours? Does Theresa Sanchez remind you of your grandmother? Tell me all about it in the comments section below…
