Rumors that there is some kind of beef between Salma Hayek and Nicole Kidman started circulating after a clip of them at the Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week on September 30 made the rounds. The clip shows the two stars, both wearing black, having an awkward interaction. It seems that the reason why some think that Salma and Nicole are having an issue is because Salma seems tense and is using her hands to kind of redirect Nicole, but Nicole doesn't want to be redirected.

I’m not sure why a video that’s a couple of weeks old is getting so much attention, but sometimes that’s how the internet works. One publication even got a lip reader involved to break down what was said in the video. That seems unnecessary, but OK. I’ll share the deets below, plus what other sources are saying about what went down between the two Hollywood A-listers.
Behold the video in question.
This video was taken at the end of the Balenciaga show. Salma seems a little stressed out, which makes sense since they appear to be getting asked for photos amid the chaos. Nicole on the other hand seems more invested in connecting with Katy Perry.
You can hear a photographer saying, “One more please, ladies please.” In the video, Salma kind of uses her hands to turn Nicole around. According to lip-reader Jeremy Freeman, who spoke to Page Six, Salma said, “Let’s turn there, OK, here,” as she redirected Nicole.
“Hey, I’m fine, I’m good. There, it’s enough, it’s OK,” is what Nicole responded, according to the lip-reader. Nicole then kind of moves out of the way and Katy stands next to Salma to take pictures.
Not to argue, but.
Not going to argue with the expert lip reader or anything, but what I’m hearing at the start of the video is Salma saying something along the lines of “Press on this side, then this way.” She seems concerned about the photographer who is speaking to them getting his picture, whereas Nicole doesn’t seem to be concerned with the photographer and would rather give Katy a kiss.
I mean, it doesn’t really matter what Salma and Nicole said to each other at that moment. It was a chaotic moment with a whole lot of cross talk going on, but that doesn’t mean the two actresses were actually cross at each other. They had a whole lot of other interactions at the event where they seem perfectly fine with each other.
"They were being bombarded by cameras at the end of the show while in the middle of a conversation," an insider told People. "People are looking at clips and making a story out of nothing."
Both of the women have strong connections to Balenciaga.
Nicole was named an ambassador for the brand last December. Of course, Salma is married to François-Henri Pinault, who is the CEO of Balenciaga’s parent company, Kering. During the show he was in the front row, seated between Salma and Nicole.
The day after the show, Salma posted a carousel on Instagram that included a picture of herself and Nicole standing side by side. I think these ladies are just fine with each other and people just want to make up beef stories for fun.
Salma fans are not having it though.
Nicole posted a picture of herself at The Peninsula Paris hotel on October 3 and the comments got flooded by people offended on Salma’s behalf.
“Your attitude towards Hayek was ridiculous!!!!” wrote one fan. “Lack of education with someone who is so humble and adorable!”
Nicole captioned the photo: “Night night Paris @thepeninsulaparis.”
That prompted another Salma fan to comment: “Caption should be ‘thinking about me being RUDE for no reason.’” OUCH!
I say we all show Nicole Kidman some grace.
The Balenciaga show was the first public appearance that Nicole made following the death of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, in September. She’s got a lot going on and maybe how she comes off on a TikTok video isn’t top of mind at the moment for her.
"My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week," Nicole and her sister Antonia Kidman shared on September 12 via Instagram. "Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express."
