Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's love story is one for the ages. That's what fans thought when the couple reunited almost 20 years after calling off their first engagement and then said, "I do." Unfortunately for Bennifer shippers, it seems divorce is on the horizon—and sooner rather than later.

To recap, Jen and Ben met on the set of their film Gigli in 2002. Ben proposed later that year, but they called off their wedding in early 2004. Fast forward to 2021, and J.Lo and Ben rekindled their romance; they married in July 2022.
As of August 2024, a divorce announcement is seemingly just around the corner.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck will reportedly announce their divorce by the end of the summer.
Recently, sources told Page Six that Ben and Jen are expected to announce their divorce by the end of the summer.
"They’ve turned the page on all the unfinished business of 20-plus years ago," an insider reportedly told the news outlet. "They’ve seen things through to the end—and they know for sure now that they are not built for the long haul."
The source said their brief marriage is the most 'expensive exercise in closure ever.'
According to the anonymous source, Ben and Jen have "no further unanswered questions" about their relationship. "They’ve seen all they need to see, and it’s over."
The insider then summed up their two-year marriage two decades after their called-off engagement, telling Page Six: "In the end, it’s gonna be the most elaborate and expensive exercise in closure ever."
Reportedly, Ben and Jen 'got caught up in the moment.'
Evidently, the history between the Argo actor and the "Get Loud" singer clouded their judgment.
"They got caught up in the moment," a source told Page Six. "Jennifer had wanted this wedding—the gowns, the friends, all the trappings and trimmings—for decades," one friend told Page Six.
J.Lo and Ben have already started financially separating by listing their $60 million Beverly Hills mansion.
In July, Bennifer publicly listed their Beverly Hills mansion for sale. The news came after they failed to sell it off-market. Ben and Jen purchased the home for $60.8 million in June 2023, and it's currently listed for $68 million.
Meanwhile, Ben purchased a 'bachelor pad' in LA.
On July 27, Ben reportedly closed escrow on a $20.5 million "bachelor pad" in Los Angeles, TMZ reported. The home is located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood. Ben's purchase came after he reportedly lived in a rental house in the Brentwood neighborhood separately from J.Lo.
Jennifer is house-hunting and 'hasn't seen Ben for weeks.'
J.Lo sold her New York City penthouse in July, too, and is rumored to be in the process of house-hunting.
Jennifer reportedly "hasn't seen Ben for weeks," a source told People on August 6. "They’re moving on separately. Jennifer is trying to find a new home to start fresh."
