Kourtney Kardashian finds pregnancy ’empowering’ even after undergoing fetal surgery

Kourtney Kardashian shared a series of pictures featuring herself showing off her baby bump in a leather and lace ensemble. The photos are typical Kourtney being Kourtney, but this time around it’s not the photos that are garnering the most attention, it’s the caption that is remarkable. She wrote: “pregnancy is so empowering.”

Kourtney is currently pregnant with her first child with husband Travis Barker, but she has been pregnant before and has three children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign, who she shares with former partner Scott Disick. She called those three pregnancies “really easy.” However, her current pregnancy has not been so, which is why her “pregnancy is so empowering” caption is surprising given that she had to have “urgent fetal surgery” just a few days before she posted those words.

Check out Kourtney’s post and pictures below as well as what she shared about the life-saving fetal surgery she underwent to save her baby.

The ‘empowering’ post.

On September 10, Kourtney shared several photos of her pregnant self lounging in an armchair. She’s wearing a leather jacket and skirt with a lace crop top and lace gloves. Some of the pictures are in color and some are in black and white. The caption reads, “pregnancy is so empowering.”

Just days before, she shared that she underwent fetal surgery.

Alongside a black and white photo of her and Travis holding hands while she was at the hospital, Kourtney wrote:

“I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life. I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this.”

She went on to share how scared she felt.

“As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.”

It's great that things turned out well for her and her ‘baby boy.’

“Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing. ,” she concluded. Not only is it great that both mom and baby are safe, it’s phenomenal that even after that experience, Kourtney finds pregnancy to be an empowering experience.

But let’s be real, not all women find pregnancy empowering.

It’s great that Kourtney finds pregnancy to be empowering, but let’s not take that to mean that’s the case for every woman. I for one, did not feel empowered during either of my pregnancies and I know I’m not alone. I think the following comment on Kourtney’s IG post says it well: “Pregnancy is so glamorized. It’s beautiful but hard. Let’s talk about the hard more so girls don’t think of it just being this glamorous walk in the park.”
