Serena's baby bump reveal comes after she 'retired' from tennis.

In August 2022, Serena wrote an essay for Vogue, and in it she hinted at her retirement following the US Open. However, the tennis star seemingly walked back that statement during an interview at TechCrunch Disrupt, per The San Francisco Standard. Serena has opened up about her difficult childbirth the first time around.
Through the years, Serena has opened up about her difficult first birth. After delivering her daughter via C-section in 2017, Serena experienced concerning symptoms, including not being able to feel her legs. She begged her doctors to check her for blood clots because she has a history of them, and she ultimately needed three additional surgeries.
"Being heard and appropriately treated was the difference between life or death for me," she wrote in an essay for Elle magazine in 2022. "In the U.S., Black women are nearly three times more likely to die during or after childbirth than their white counterparts," Serena said. "Many of these deaths are considered by experts to be preventable."
Hopefully, Serena's second childbirth experience goes much more smoothly this time around. And who knows? Perhaps we'll see her again on the tennis court one day in the future. Congrats to Serena and Alexis on baby No. 2 on the way!
