Say it isn't so! One of our favorite celebrity couples has called it quits. Pop singers Camila Cabello, 24, and Shawn Mendes, 23, announced on Instagram on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, that they've amicably decided to break up after dating for more than two years. The news came as a huge surprise to the young couple's loyal fans, who have followed their relationship on social media since its outset.

The announcement came via a joint statement the two issued on their respective Instagram stories, just a couple of weeks after they each posted photos of themselves celebrating Dia de los Muertos together and were spotted engaging in some serious PDA at the beach in Miami the very same week.
The announcement was made very casually.
Camila and Shawn simultaneously posted a typed message on a black background on their Instagram stories saying, "Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever."
They say they're best friends.
But Camila and Shawn were friends before they were a couple, and evidently they decided that's what works best. "We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward," their statement reads.
They had been dating for more than two years.
Camila and Shawn started dating in July 2019, and ahead of their announcement, it seemed like all was going well and that they were in it for the long haul, so the news was a big surprise for their fans.
"I honestly didn’t see it coming because of how they were together and all," tweeted one fan.
It seems like they still have feelings for each other.
Considering they were just spotted making out in the ocean while on the beach in Miami, it seems they must still have some feelings for each other that may take some time to fade. They've obviously decided to move on, though.
We'll miss their social media antics.
One of our favorite things about Camila and Shawn's relationship was watching them be total goofballs together on social media. We know they're still friends and all, so maybe they'll still give us a few more hilarious gems like this. We have to say, though, Camila is still pretty fun on her own.
