Kylie Cosmetics just dropped the goriest, bloodiest, most outrageous Halloween-inspired makeup collection ever, and both horror movie fans and makeup lovers are in for something special. Beauty mogul Kylie Jenner announced a week before the new collection launched that it would be inspired by the classic Freddy Krueger horror film, A Nightmare on Elm Street.
More from MamásLatinas: All about Kylie Jenner’s new Kylie Baby line, that's been 'tested & approved' by Stormi
Kylie went all out with the promo materials for the new Nightmare on Elm Street makeup line, with a bloody, totally nude photo shoot inspired by scenes from the iconic 1984 slasher flick and super-detailed packaging that pays homage to the film and the genre as a whole. And, of course, the makeup itself is fire.
Kylie's teaser video was super spooky.
A week before the new Kylie Cosmetics Halloween collection launched, Kylie Jenner posted an insanely scary teaser video in which she appears naked and completely doused in fake blood, with the iconic rhyme from Nightmare on Elm Street playing in the background. "One, two, Freddy's comin' for you…"
She wore an insane catsuit for the photo shoot.
For the photo shoot, Kylie also donned the craziest catsuit. It was created to replicate the appearance of Freddy Krueger's destroyed skin, which of course looks like open, oozing burn wounds.
Kylie looked straight out of a horror movie.
Apparently Kylie shot the photos for the new collection prior to getting pregnant with her second child—or at least before she was showing—and she went all out. She looked straight out of a gore fest, covered in the most realistic-looking fake blood.
The line launched in mid-October.
The Nightmare on Elm Street collection launched on October 12, 2021, featuring a bundle of all the products—an eye shadow palette, a lip kit, a jelly lip and cheek stain, and false lashes. The press kit was even available to purchase, although that has since sold out.
Let's talk about that press kit.
Everything about the press kit Kylie Cosmetics sent out for this spooky collection was perfection. Horror movie fans are definitely squealing about it. All the products are packed into a box that looks like an old video cassette tape, and the inside is printed to look like Freddy's skin. It's insane!
The makeup matches.
Once you get past the horror of the photos and videos, the makeup from the line looks absolutely amazing. It's all in striking shades of red, gold, and nude, which feels a bit like a throwback to the 1980s, when the film came out.
The makeup is glamorous, but still on theme.
While being totally on point for the Nightmare on Elm Street theme, the makeup still looks really glamorous and elegant. The deep red lip lacquer looks absolutely beautiful, and it looks like it would be the perfect red for a variety of complexions.
We're intrigued by the lip and cheek stain.
We're totally intrigued by the collection's blood red "jelly" lip and cheek stain. It's buildable, so you can customize the depth of color each time you use it. Plus, the packaging is awesome.
The full face is a total vibe.
A full face using the Nightmare on Elm Street collection is a total vibe. While each individual product seems pretty versatile, they can be used all together to create a stunning and dramatic look.
The eye colors are interesting as well.
The eye palette features a dozen rich colors, including a dark burgundy, a bright red, a glittery black, and a number of other shades. The palette includes both sparkly and matte shades, and we think they could be used for a variety of occasions, together or separately.
The lip lacquers look perfect for a night out.
The collection features lip lacquers in three shades, all of which look like they'd be perfect glosses for a night out on the town. They are classic shades with just the right amount of shine to them.
Multiple looks can be achieved.
With this look, Kylie showed exactly how versatile the products in the collection are. From the super-sultry and dramatic reds to the more subdued and subtle neutrals in the palette, it all works.
The products are pretty affordable, too.
Products in the Kylie Cosmetics Nightmare on Elm Street collection start at $17 for the lip and cheek stain and go up to $90 for a set that includes all of the products. The eye shadow palette is just $30, which is actually a bargain for 12 colors.
It's perfect for makeup fans and horror fans.
Whether you're totally into the makeup or you're a die-hard horror movie fan, this Kylie Cosmetics collection has tons of appeal, and it's actually super versatile and could work for people of various skin tones.
Perhaps not for the squeamish, though.
If you're squeamish at all, though, you might have to get past it in order to get in on all the makeup goodness, because every time you open up these products, you'll be reminded, "Three, four, better lock your door. Five, six, grab a crucifix. Seven, eight, gonna stay up late. Nine, ten, never sleep again…"
