With all the different types of berries out there it's impossible to not find one that you enjoy. They are also filled with antioxidants our bodies need to fight off cancer and other diseases. One of the benefits from eating berries is that they can even help keep you healthy and lose some pounds if you need to.
In fact, below are some that you can find in your frozen food aisle and the amazing benefits you can get from them!
Blueberries: These dark blue berries are a good source of vitamins C, K, and have anti-aging qualities.
Raspberries: This berry is the highest in fiber and keeps you full which makes it perfect for weight loss. They also help lower bad cholestrol levels and contain anthocyanins which help with eyesight problems.
Blackberries: As one of the darkest berries blackberries are high in antioxidants and 7.5 grams of fiber. They also have gallic acid which kills bacteria that develops in your mouth and is considered an oral virus fighter.
Goji Berries: This Asian berry is native to China and contains high levels of antioxidants. It has been eaten for years to treat diabetes, eyesight issues, and high blood pressure. These are hard to find raw in the United States, but can be bought dried at health food stores.
Gooseberries: This berry is found in Europe as well as parts of Asia and is ideal to use as a snack or part of a dinner meal. Vitamin C and vitamin A are also big components of this berry as well as 6.5 grams of dietary fiber.
Lingonberries: This Scandanavian berry reportedly blocks fat and lowers bad cholesterol levels, as well as blood sugar levels. It's said to be even more powerful than the Acai berry, another super food.
Strawberries: This popular berry has important antioxidant properties which protect the brain, heart, and bones. It can also help burn stored fat thanks to it's red coloring called anthocyanins.
Acai Berry: The Brazilian fruit is energy boosting, anti-aging, and contains omega-3 fatty acids which help with weight loss. Similar to the goji berry, it can be found dried or frozen at your local health store.
Cranberry: This berry helps treat UTIs and is one of the few that contains proanthocyanidins, a phytochemical that prevents bacteria from sticking to your urinary tract.
Noni Berry: This fruit can be found on the Polynesian islands and has been used to treat pains and aches, diabetes, infections, and high blood pressure. Indians surprisingly used it as well as natural sunscreen to protect themselves from sun damage. To get your fix, you can find noni juice, powders, and extracts at health food stores.
