Popular sandwich chain has been feeding us WHAT?!

I am not a huge fan of eating "fast" food because there are just too many temptations to go the unhealthy route with it, but ever since I can remember I have been a huge fan of Subway. It just seems easy to eat healthy there. Even when I was a vegetarian I found that I could get myself a sandwich loaded with veggies and feel totally satisfied.

Well, now I find out that the company has been using a chemical to make its breads in the U.S. that isn't even food and had I known, I never would have eaten there in the first place. The questionable ingredient that they have been using to make most of their breads here is called azodicarbonamide and you won't believe what it is normally used for and not it's not something you want to put in your mouth.

Azodicarbonamide is a chemical that is used to make yoga mats shoe soles, and other rubbery objects. These are great and useful products that can help you get healthy and fit, but not if you eat them, am I right?

Subway has been using the chemical in it's breads as a bleaching agent and dough conditioner. It also helps them produce the bread faster and cheaper. I'm all for speed and saving money, but this chemical has been linked to respiratory issues, cancer, and tumor development. I would rather not eat it!

Also, Subway doesn't even use this chemical in its restaurants in other parts of the world, so why oh why should we get exposed to it? The company has issued a statement saying "The complete conversion to have this product out of the bread will be done soon." Awesome socks, but you know what would have been better? To never have that junk in your food in the first place. Why does the U.S. lag when it comes to banning this kind of crap?
