If you thought the thigh-gap trend was bad, wait until you hear about the "bikini bridge." Women and young girls all over are now posting pictures of their bikini bottoms on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. And the reason behind is quite disturbing. They want to show off the space between their bikini and their lower abdomen to prove their thinness. This thing is definitely going to lead to some unhealthy habits and there's absolutely nothing cute about it!

When I first heard about the thigh-gap trend, which is when a woman's legs are so slim they don't actually touch above the knees leaving a huge gap between the thighs, I was very concerned. I was concerned especially for all the young girls out there starving themselves to maintain these incredibly unhealthy and unrealistic body goals. Just when I thought that trend was finally starting to fade away, now we've been hit with the bikini bridge.
What makes trends like the thigh-gap and bikini bridge so especially dangerous is that most of us women don't actually have thighs that don't touch or insanely flat tummies with our hip bones sticking out. For a lot of us a figure like this isn't natural or even easy to obtain and it shouldn't be. Who wants to have thighs that don't touch or hip bones protruding out? I sure don't!
And if you think this is all just one big joke, just do your homework. You can find pictures of women and their bikini bridge all over social media. There's even a Tumblr page dedicated to it. Like the thigh gap trend, this one also praises the idea that thinner is better and more beautiful. It's that mentality that leads women to serious disorders like anorexia or bulimia.
Ladies, let's vow to stop following these crazy trends this year and finally love and embrace our bodies. Life is WAY too short to be obsessing over how your bikini bottom lays over your stomach–don't you agree?
