5 Ways to pull off a midday workout without looking like a hot mess

I'll come clean: I only work out at night. I have friends that hit up the gym or their local yoga studio right before work or even during their lunch break–but NOT me! I refuse to go anywhere but home after exercising, so workouts during the work day are out of the question for me. If I can't shower, freshen up, and do my makeup it's not happening. Last thing I need is to show up to my job looking like a sweaty, hot mess!

Whenever I hear my co-workers or friends talk about hitting up the gym in the morning or–worse yet–midday, I ask myself how on earth? Seriously, how are these women stepping into the office looking so well put together after breaking up a sweat at the gym? But apparently it's not impossible. I did my research and found that there are actually quite a few ways you can avoid looking like a disgusting pig after your workout. Here's how!

Put your hair in a high bun: Wearing your hair in a ponytail is asking for a gross, greasy head. Try pulling your hair up into a lose high bun. Use a scrunchie rather than an elastic band to avoid creating a crease.

Always use dry shampoo: A lot of women wait until after their workout to spray on the dry shampoo. But the trick is to actually spray it on to the roots of your hair beforehand. It helps absorb all the moisture and sweat while you're working out. You can add a little more after to boost volume.

Use cleansing towelettes: No time to shower? Freshen up by applying some cleansing wipes all over your body. Try Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes with Citrus & Cucumber ($6). They feel and smell great!

Get your glow on: All the blood flow you experienced during your workout will leave you with a post-workout glow. Enhance it with a tinted moisturizer rather than layering on thick foundation. I'm obsessed with Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($43).

Touch up: Forget the makeup, its just going to get messy and muggy over that damp skin. Instead use an eyelash curlier on lashes, followed by two layers of mascara. Try CoverGirl Bombshell Volume by LashBlast Mascara ($9). Brighten up your face by adding some color to your lips too. Use a moisturizing lipstain, like Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint ($24).
