Curly Q: My hair is naturally wavy/straight, but I want to glam up my look for the holidays with gorgeous curls. The problem is, I already put my hair through a lot, with all the regular blow-drying and flat-ironing I do and I'm afraid of doing further damage. How can I get beautiful, bouncy curls without the hair-damaging heat?

When it comes to creating curls, most chicas are quick to reach for the hot tools. But with time hot tools can dry out and damage your stands, especially if it's colored or chemically processed. Luckily, there are ways you can curl your hair without using ANY heat. Here are five super simple ways you can get bouncy curls without picking up the curling iron. Check it out!
Flexible rod curls: Whenever I want my limpy/heat-damaged curls to look bouncer I grab a flexi rod set. They are easy to use and create the illusion of a full head of curls. Get a set, like the Goody Star Style Finish Spiral It Out Flexible Rod Rollers ($15) and wrap damp sections of hair around it. Make sure the hair is rolled around the rod and twist the ends to hold. Wear them overnight and wake up with perfectly spiraled curls in the morning.
Pin curls: Pin curls are such an easy way to create perfect, polished curls. I recommend applying a styling product, like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($20) to dry hair first to help build volume and texture. Create your part and then take 2-inch sections of hair and curl it around your fingers. Secure each pin curl with a bobby pin. Let it sit for a few hours so it holds the curls.
Paper towel curls: All you have to do is cut paper towel in strips as your "rollers." Then apply a styling mousse to clean, damp hair. I like TRESemme Styling Aid Curl Enhancing Mousse ($4). Then section hair into sections. How many sections you create depends on how tight you want your curls. Place your ends on top of the strip of paper towel and roll it up the way you would with a roller. Get it close to the roots and then tie a knot in the towel to get it to hold. Leave it on for a few hours.
Velcro rollers: Velcro rollers make a hot mess on naturally curly hair. But if your strands are straight, wavy or blown out, these babies can do wonders–without the damage of course! Try Conair Self Grip Rollers Volume and Lift ($11). No pins or clips needed here!
Headband method: Get a soft, wide elastic headband and make sure it wraps all around your head. Then take sections of hair and wrap it underneath the headband using hairpins to pin the ends in place. Once all your hair has been wrapped around the headband, spritz a strong hold spray, like CatWalk Your Highness Firm Hold Hairspray ($15). For best results, let it sit for a few hours.
