Just because it's colder out doesn't give you an excuse to walk around with ashy skin and a super dry face. I get it though! My combination skin tends to act up on me during the winter months, leaving me flaky, scaly, ashy, and itchy from head to toe. And let's face it, naturally tan skin and achiness don't pair well together!

Unfortunately, low temperatures for most of us Latinas means dry, dull skin, an ashy body, and pesky blemishes. Luckily there are ways to put an end to these annoying winter skin issues. Here are seven ways to get gorgeous glowy skin even during the dead of winter!

Avoid ashy spots
There's absolutely NOTHING cute about dusty, chalky looking skin. They're especially noticeable on us medium and dark skinned chicas. Try rubbing organic coconut oil (the solid form) to the areas of the body that tend to dry and ash up the most, like elbows, knees, legs, and feet.
Deeply moisturize
If after five minutes your facial moisturizer still hasn't left your skin smooth and supple, it's time to switch it it up to something heaver. I recommend the Estée Lauder Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Creme ($42). It leaves skin quenched!
Exfoliate
Never underestimate the effects of a facial scrub. A good exfoliator buffs away dry, dead skin cells that make your complexion look dull. Try Neutrogena Purifying Pore Scrub ($8). It's gentle enough for all skin types and won't cause scars.
Banish blemishes
Wintertime is the best time of year to erase away those pesky manchas. Treat those spots by slathering on a color correcting serum, like Diorsnow White Reveal Ultra Purifying Liquid ($85).
Get your Vitamin D fix
Unfortunately for us, a lot of Latinas tend to be at risk for low Vitamin D levels. Not only is it essential for our bone health, but it also helps promote a brighter, healthier complexion. Try Dr. Dennis Gross Active Vitamin D Serum Oil ($65). This stuff works wonders!
Do a facial mask
I keep my face healthy and hydrated during the winter months by applying a moisturizing facial mask at least once a week. Try Eve Lom Moisture Mask ($90).
Don't skip out on sunscreen
It might be colder out, but that doesn't mean you should stop protecting your skin from the sun. To avoid annoying white residue, try a moisturizer that already has sunscreen in it, like Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture SPF 35 ($12).
