As a food lover, I know I've overeaten on many occasions only to regret it later because of stomach aches or weight gain. However by changing up my strategy to convince myself I'm full, this made a heck of a difference. You don't have to be stuffed every time you sit down for a big meal, instead you need to learn when to say "when".
If you are one of those people who can't figure that out, then these are a few tricks you're going to love. Try these out the next time you have a meal!
Drink tea: A cup of peppermint tea is a perfect post-dinner drink. It is known to suppress hunger and helps you digest the food properly–making it a perfect way to end a meal. If you don't like tea, brush your teeth to have the same effect.
Thoroughly chew your food: Instead of inhaling your food, take your time to savor it. By doing this you send signals to your brain that you're full and studies have shown that you consume less food by eating slowly.
Switch to smaller plates: Logically if you serve food on a large plate, you're going to eat more than you intended. By eating from smaller plates, you trick your mind into thinking that it's an ordinary serving of food, therefore eating less.
Get moving: If you keep yourself busy after eating enough, you won't be tempted to continue eating. This will serve as a distraction and depending on what you choose to do, you might even get some chores done!
Drink water: Often times we confuse thirst for hunger. Make sure to drink water throughout the day to stave off cravings and keep you from mindlessly eating.
