Abuela gives birth to 17th baby & she still wants MORE!

A 42-year-old grandmother from Lake Elsinore, California, has given birth to her 17th child, an 8-pound baby boy named Vaughn. Christi and her 46-year-old husband David Cason have been featured on a number of television shows and documentaries about large families, including TLC's Kids by the Dozen and National Geographic's Megafamilies. The couple–who is not affiliated with any particular religion–has no plans to prevent future pregnancies. In fact, it appears that they have family dynamics down to a science.

Cason, who has birthed all of her children naturally, suffered multiple miscarriages after turning 40, at which point she was prescribed ovulation-stimulating medication. Though it is likely that the medication helped her to conceive baby Vaughn, she says she probably will not undergo such treatment again. However, the couple whose oldest is 23, are not opposed to having more children.

These days, they have lots of help from their older kids who can cook and clean, and even shuttle their younger siblings around. As for finances, David is a network engineer, Christi stays home with the kids (saving a ton on daycare I bet!) and the family makes do with a modest–given the size of their family–five-bedroom home.

I have to say, I can't even imagine having the desire–let alone the energy–to have so many children. Though I have heard from more than one family that once you have three, additional children don't make life all that much harder. And honestly, I'm as impressed with Christi as I am in awe. This woman appears youthful and happy, and despite being almost 15 years younger and having only one child, I sometimes struggle with those things.

It is kind of crazy that their first grandchild, who was born earlier this year, could end up in the same grade in school as their youngest!
