Jen Bulik was only 35 when she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer earlier this year. She was given four to six months to live and instead of focusing on her impending death, the California woman and her long-time boyfriend decided to get married and live in the present as much as possible. Thanks to the generosity of strangers who donated over $50,000 worth of goods and services, Jen married Jeff Lang in a dream ceremony at the end of July.
On Thursday, she lost her battle with cancer in what her husband described as a "very peaceful" and "beautiful" moment.

This couple's heartbreaking story touched countless people because their love for each other was so pure. Also because they chose to attempt to continue with their lives even though they were basically waiting for the moment when Jen would succumb.
On her blog, Jen recently wrote about the difficulty of coming to terms with the realization that her life would never go back to normal. ""I have to laugh at the insanity because this is so out of my control. I think I should have some control over this but I really don't." Can you imagine how difficult that must have been?
In fact, the day of their wedding, Jeff confessed that it was hard for him not to think of the future. Now, the love of his life has died and he has been left a widow just a few weeks after getting married.
Tragic stories like this one only serve to remind me, once again, how fragile life can be, how we shouldn't take anything for granted and how important it is to live your life as if you only had four to six months to live.
