5 Ways to get your workout to fly by faster

Although I'm an avid exerciser, I can admit, I have my lazy days too. Sometimes you would rather veg out on the couch watching mindless TV as opposed to getting all sweaty at the gym. Usually that type of mentality means you dread your workout because it feels like work and takes up so much time that you'd rather ditch it.

There is a difference between a rest day and lazy day and the latter just requires some motivation and fun ways to make that workout feel effortless.

If you envy those people who exercise like it's second nature, then don't worry: You too can workout like it's a part of your everyday life. Those who are disciplined and exercise regularly actually have a little secret that keeps them going. If you follow their tricks, you won't be dreading your next workout. Trust me, I've experimented with some of these and they help your exercise routine fly by quicker than you think!

Check out the tips below:

Cut it short: If you were under the impression that you need to exercise for an hour each day, you'll be glad to know that studies have shown that shorter intense workouts will still provide you with the same benefits as a longer one. Thirty minutes should be good enough!

Get a workout buddy: Having a friend in the same boat as you can help keep you on track of your exercise schedule. You'll both remain motivated and you'd be surprised as to how easily being caught up in conversation will make your workout fly by.

Make a pump-up playlist: Nothing gets me going more than a good music playlist. By making a list of your favorite upbeat tunes, not only will it get you more amped to complete that workout, but you may even go longer than you expected!

Track your progress: Downloading an exercise tracking app or keeping a journal allows you to see your improvement since the first day you started exercising. You'll be proud to see how much your hard work has paid off that you'll want to continue challenging yourself.

Take a class: Jogging on a treadmill gets boring and can lead to a workout rut. Instead of using exercise machines, try out a Zumba, kickboxing, or other class of your choice. You meet others who are looking to spice up their exercise routine, and you'll be too distracted having fun that it won't feel like you're working out!
