17-year-old dancer had no idea she was pregnant until she went into labor

I thought I heard the craziest I-didn't-know-I was-pregnant story earlier this week, but then I learned about a 17-year-old dancer who was oblivious to her pregnancy. Jodie Smith had experienced such painful stomach cramps on Monday evening that her mother, 47-year-old Lesley, had to take her to the hospital to be checked.

Much to their surprise it turned out that Jodie was pregnant and actually in labor. Shockingly Jodie had NO idea she was having a baby because she never experienced pregnancy symptoms. Even MORE baffling is the fact that midwives say the infant was weeks overdue!

According to the U.K. Daily Mail, Jodie was going on about her life like normal, going to school, the gym, attending her dance classes, and she hadn't even put on any weight

In a matter of hours of being admitted to the hospital, Jodie gave birth to a healthy 8 lb. baby boy she named Jack Arthur.

It's unclear what stage Jodi's pregnancy was at, but the midwives present predicted Jack was a couple of weeks overdue. Jodie's boyfriend, 19-year-old Danny Yeoman was also shell-shocked by the news but couldn't be happier to be a dad.

The happy new parents know that having a child on a limb is going to take some adjustment, but Jodie still plans on attending college for dance.

Wow, what a bizarre story! I will never understand how some people never know they are pregnant until they are in labor, but Jodie's story is shocking. She didn't even put on weight or experience anything out of the ordinary. This teen is proof that an unexpected pregnancy like this can happen to just about anyone. I guess, ladies, if you're not looking to get pregnant, you better double up on protection!
