This common weight loss habit could be putting your life in danger!

If you've ever noticed that you tend to eat more in the wintertime and less in the summer, then you are not alone. A new study conducted by alcohol-free wine Sorelle has revealed that women tend to gain 7.4 pounds in the wintertime and lose it all in the summer. This form of yo-yo dieting has revealed that women fluctuate over 22 pounds within a lifetime with few maintaining their weight.

So why is it that a woman's weight fluctuates so drastically? The answer is something we can ALL relate to!

The U.K.'s Daily Mail reveals that the survey conducted on more than 2,000 women found that four in 10 women admit to yo-yo dieting, with only seven percent maintaining the same weight year round. But besides having to show extra skin in the summertime, there are a variety of reasons women shed the weight during the warmer weather. A whopping 54 percent said they feared not being able to fit into an old dress or favorite outfit motivated them to drop the pounds.

Unflattering Facebook pictures and seeing former pictures of themselves when they were thinner also aided as a reason to lose weight. Typical reasons such as getting in shape for a special occasion or the warmer season also played an important role in women's decision to shed some pounds. Sorelle's health ambassador, Tina Hobleyurges that women watch what they eat and drink year round as opposed to during one season. In fact, extreme weight fluctuation can be harmful by putting you at higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, cancer, and depression.

It's easy to get caught up with the junk food consumed during the winter holidays, but as Hobley puts it, a lot of weight gain is influenced by alcoholic beverages. "We all want to look our best when the sun comes out, and for lots of women it's the hidden calories in wine and beer that stop them from shedding the pounds," she said. But the health ambassador suggests that women opt for lower calorie versions of their favorite drinks or alcohol-free ones instead.

I think you can enjoy yourself year round if you do watch your intake of the not-so-good for you foods. Even though most of us think the solution is to just watch our weight in the summertime, it's not healthy for our bodies to experience such drastic changes. The best thing we can do is indulge on our favorite foods and alcoholic beverages but avoid going overboard with either. The last thing you want to do is end up with all these health complications, all because you couldn't put down that third cupcake.
