Both partners can benefit from a healthy diet filled with foods that help boost their fertility. Of course you should follow doctor's orders if you are having complicated issues with conceiving, but when trying to pregnant you may not realize how much your diet increases or decreases your chances of having a baby. Try eating these five foods to boost your fertility levels and don't be surprised if you end up having a little one on the way!
Minerals: A diet high in minerals helps rid of toxins in the body. Minerals such as zinc are found in pine nuts, wheat bran and wheat germ and are important for women to eat. By eating zinc, this will help the body use progesterone and estrogen and for men it helps them have healthy sperm development. Iron found in lentils, meat, and potatoes is important for a woman to eat and develops more red blood cells in order to deliver oxygen across the body.
Antioxidants: Men are advised to eat antioxidants filled with selenium to protect their genes and increase sperm count. Foods high in selenium are lentils, fish, Brazil nuts, and sunflower seeds. Women should make sure to eat a high antioxidant diet to keep their system toxin free as well and can do this by eating foods such as vegetables, fruits, spices, teas, and herbs.
Good Fats: Most people avoid fats because they have this misconception that they will gain weight. The problem is by avoiding fats, they're also not consuming the good ones found in dairy, yogurt, and olive oils which will help their fertility issues. Eating foods rich in good fats can help women ovulate regularly and boost her chances of getting pregnant.
Goji Berries: For many years Asian doctors have treated women and men with fertility issues with Goji berries. The fruit is also known to increase sperm count in men and for women it prevents premature ovarian failure. Another plus is it increases both genders libidos as well.
Wheat Grass: This vegetable not only eliminates toxins that are affecting your fertility but it restores hormonal function and your PH balance. When the vagina is too acidic it prevents sperm from doing its job, but the alkaline and chlorophyll found in wheat grass can help decrease infertility and the chances of having a miscarriage.
