3-month-old baby miraculously survives deadly earthquake, pulled from rubble by shocked rescuers

A 6.6 magnitude earthquake that rocked Lushan, China this weekend left at least 207 people dead and 11,000 injured, but among the surviving, a 3-month-old baby girl miraculously made it out alive. The quake left Lushan and Baoxing counties in shambles and as many as two dozen still missing.

Other miracle news coming from the natural disaster are of a mother giving birth to a baby girl two hours after the quake and naming her "Zhengshen" translated  to "born on the day of the quake" (she's pictured above).

The earthquake which struck at 8 a.m. on Saturday has left rescue teams searching for those missing and trying to salvage those who have been injured. According to the U.K.'s Daily Mail, the Chinese government has sent many relief teams to assist those greatly affected in the disaster areas. This is also being called China's worst earthquake in three years after the quake which struck their city in 2008 and left over 90,000 dead.

The unnamed miracle baby girl who survived the disaster was pulled from out of the rubble in the hills of the province, but lost her mother in the wreckage. Meanwhile Zhengsheng and her family have received a ton of goodwill messages from the public on Chinese microblogging service, Weibo.

One user expressed their sympathy saying that their daughter was born during the last earthquake and understood how her mother was feeling. Another mother who protected her child during the earthquake includes Zou Hanjun who was found dead, but with her 7-year-old son wrapped around her unharmed. In another scenario, rescuers found a loving mother and her child dead as she was trying to serve as protection too.

What a depressing and heart wrenching turn of events! So many lives were lost during this natural disaster and many still need to be found, but we can be thankful for the children who made it out alive. Unfortunately, many lost their mothers in the process and now have to be in the care of their surviving family members. Our thoughts go out to the victims and those affected by this terrible disaster and we hope that rescue teams can reach those who are still alive in time.
