A pregnant London woman recently gave birth at a four-star hotel after the hospital across the street asked her to leave the maternity unit. Why? Apparently, the staff thought she wasn't far along enough in her labor to take her in. But as it turns out, they were very, very wrong.
39-year-old Michelle Booth and 45-year-old Richard Eades tried to check in at University College Hospital as planned, but the midwife told her she wasn't dilated enough and that she should come back when she was further along. Unsure of what else to do, the couple decided to go to the fancy Radisson Edwardian Grafton across the street to relax awhile. According to Booth, they even jokingly promised the hotel staff that they wouldn't have the baby there.

Perhaps they shouldn't have spoken so soon though. A few hours after checking in, Booth called the hospital again and was reassured that she was "still not there." Shortly following that call, Booth experienced an urge to push. "I thought 'imagine if I'm giving birth' — that's the sort of thing you only hear about on TV. Then I put my hands down and felt a baby's head on the wrong side of my body," she told The Telegraph. Oh my god, can you imagine?!
Booth ended up giving birth to her son in the bathroom of the hotel just hours after the hospital first turned them away. After the baby arrived, the new parents called reception and asked them to send paramedics, who showed up and carried them across the street to the hospital. Both mom and baby are thankfully doing well. And the parents even decided to pay an homage to the hotel in their little guy's name, calling him George Reggie Eades, with Reggie being inspired by the hotel's initials (REG).
Wow, talk about a dramatic delivery! I am so glad to hear that Booth and her newborn are safe and healthy after such a complicated ordeal. I just don't get how the hospital could've been so completely wrong though! They are very lucky that Booth's labor went (well, relatively) smoothly regardless. What if something had gone wrong? It would've been all their fault for being so careless. Still, I guess all's well that ends well…and at least, they have a pretty amazing story to tell their son when he grows up, right?
