Save or splurge? Facial cleansing wipes

Have you seen the slew of new facial cleansing wipes on the market lately? There are a TON!

It seems like the new trend in getting your face clean, and I have to say: I'm a HUGE fan! The reason I love these wipes so much is because I used to have major issues thoroughly cleaning my face before I went to bed. I know it's terrible, especially when I'm wearing makeup, but most nights end with me crawling into bed, bone-tired (YOLO chicas!).

But this practice has some serious consequences! Let me explain.

I was super fortunate as a teen in that I never really had pimples or suffered from breakouts. Then I turned 30 and it was like all of the teen angst I had so conveniently bypassed decided to rear its ugly head. Not only did every cookie or cupcake I scarfed make an unwelcome appearance on my thighs or tummy, but also, every time I did not take diligent care of my skin, it would break out.

Then, even when I was being super consistent with my skin care routine, my hormonal fluctuations began to take a toll and this I how I learned about adult acne, but more on the in a later post. These new facial wipes have really come to my rescue, because even if I'm already in bed and not inclined to get out from under the covers and full on scrub my face, I can take off all the day's grime, makeup and sweat with just a few swipes.

Ladies, I have tried a LOT of these wipes out, so I'm going to break down the pros and cons of all of the brands I've tried and leave the decision up to you!

__1) Garnier Nutritioniste Detoxifying facial wipe__s ($4.99, Target)
I loved this wipe because it did not sting, burn or rub my skin the wrong way even for a second. It leaves you feeling refreshed and I don't even need moisturizer after. However, and this is a biggie, I had to use at three at a time to really get that clean feeling.

2) Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne-Control Pink Grapefruit wipes ($7.79, walgreens.com)
These, for me, are the heavy-duty wipes for when I've had an intense workout or just one of those days where you feel particularly icky. They aren't my go-to for makeup removal because they are really strong and scented and I wouldn't be so into using these too much around my eye area, but to take to the gym or for a nightly wipe-off on a day where you aren't wearing makeup these are great and one wipe TOTALLY does the job.

I've also tried two specific wipes aimed at removing make-up:

1) Biore make-up removing wipes ($9.99, amazon.com)
These worked fantastically. The thing I really loved about all the Biore wipes was the thickness and texture. They feel substantial and since they are, you really don't have to use a ton. The downside? These definitely stung a bit around the eye area which was a real bummer.

2) Neutrogena Make-up removing wipes ($4.97, Walmart)
These are my absolute go-to wipes when I have a full face of makeup on and the thought of getting out of bed makes me want to cry. They remove ALL traces of makeup without drying out your skin and are great for even sensitive skin. They don't leave your skin super dry either, so it's perfect for right before you hit the hay.

Final verdict: Overall, I have to say that Neutrogena really seems to have cornered the market on awesome, effective, but gently facial wipes. I always have both the makeup remover wipes (on my bedside table) and the Pink Grapefruit wipes (in my gym bag) around and they have saved me tons of time, not to mention breakouts.

The best part is that none of these are all that expensive, and as long as you are not using more than one at a time, they should last you quite a while. For a girl on the go, it's hard to get more convenient than that!
