When his younger sister fell through the ice on a frozen pond, 12-year-old Indiana boy Tony Buuck didn't think twice. Instead of running inside to get his father or call 911, the young hero jumped in and saved his 8-year-old sibling from near-drowning himself! Isn't that amazing?!
Buuck was playing basketball in the driveway of his home when his sister, Sammy, fell through a frozen pond near their backyard. Hearing his sister's cries, Buuck ran to try and save her, but the thin ice cracked under his feet and caused him to fall in as well. He grabbed on to the hood of his sister's coat and began treading water until their father, Dale, realized what was happening and rushed to pull them out.
Sammy was unconscious and not breathing when they got to shore. While Dale stayed with his daughter, Buuck once again took quick action and ran to call 911. The dispatcher relayed instructions on how to perform CPR, which Buuck then shouted out to his father. Eventually, emergency workers reached the family's home and all three were treated and released from a hospital.

Wow, what an incredibly brave kid! I'm so glad that the entire family is okay after such a harrowing ordeal. One thing's for sure: not many 12-year-olds–or adults for that matter!–would've been quick-thinking or courageous enough to do what Buuck did.
But what's most amazing is that he doesn't seem to want any credit for his actions. "…I think a lot of people wouldn't have done it. I don't want to have all the glory and stuff," he told ABC News.
Aww, brave and modest! The real heroes are always the ones who are just trying to do what's right, not acting for attention–and it's clear that Buuck definitely falls into that category. His parents must be so proud to have such an amazing kid.
