Have you ever wanted to try some rhino beetle alongside your hummus? Or perhaps you're looking to have some tapas toast with imperial Thai scorpion? Or, even better, how would you like to taste a little bit of spicy grasshoppers in guacamole?
Disgusted yet? Well, those are just some of the dishes being served up at a tapas bar and restaurant in Villadolid, Spain, by chef Marco Negroni of Bar Passion. That's right, the fare in this Spanish restaurant is heavily inspired by actual bugs and insects in your food!

According to UPI.com, the Spanish restaurateur was inspired by a trip to Thailand, where he saw insects being sold "as they were bags of potatoes". After seeing this sight in Bangkok six years ago, he expanded the menu at his eatery to include some insect-based dishes and, surprisingly, they have become the restaurant's most popular items.
Would you like some leaf-eating ants in aloe vera yogurt? Or perhaps those mini-toasts with imperial Thai scorpion, olive oil, tomato and grated cheese really did sound delicious to you? Although the spicy grasshoppers in guacamole sounds interesting, I'm not sure that I am brave enough to go away from the Spanish tapas or other international dishes.
Although I'm no longer the picky eater that I was as a kid, I just don't know if grasshoppers with avocado is something that I really want to try. It sounds borderline scary to me. Though, I suppose, a lot of people flock to this restaurant for the specific purpose of trying something really odd. I can definitely appreciate the chef's culinary abilities and these brave people trying his dishes but, well, I just don't think I could ever purposefully eat a bug.
