Nicole Richie__ really caught my attention last night at the Golden Globe Awards. The 31-year old mom and designer made a bold beauty move by pairing her sparkling blue Naeem Khan dress with matching blue eye shadow. Matching your makeup to your outfit is usually considered a fashion no-no, but Nicole managed to look amazing and totally rocked the matchy-matchy thing. She kept the style modern by applying an icy cool blue shadow only to the lids of her eyes and working it with a natural nude pout. Check out a few of my tips below to help you replicate Nicole's super cool makeup look at home!

Part of what made Nicole's look work was her dewy, glowy complexion. Start off by prepping skin with a luminizing makeup primer, like Smashbox Photo Finish Luminizing Foundation Primer in Sheer Luminous Gold ($38). Then apply a liquid foundation to your skin using a makeup sponge for a natural-looking application. I like the Beauty Blender Sponge ($20).
-
Use a brightening concealer to brighten the under eye area and to cover imperfections. Try Sephora Collection Smoothing & Brightening Concealer ($16).
-
Then add a shimmery bronzer, like Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze ($6), to the highest point of the apple of your cheeks.
Eyes:
-
Apply a light, shimmery blue eye shadow, like Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream Shadow in Pastel Blue ($23) to your eye lids only.
-
To give the look more dimension, line your lower waterlines with a dark purple liner. I like Sephora Collection Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner in Shimmer Electric Purple ($12).
-
Apply two or three coats of a lengthening mascara, like CoverGirl Natureluxe Mousse Mascara ($9) for maximum impact.
Lips:
- Finish off the look by sweeping a nude gloss to lips. I love L'Oréal Paris Infallible Lipgloss in Barely Nude ($10).
