Golden and caramel highlights look great against a light brown base. They also tend to illuminate and brighten light and olive complexions, like Jennifer Lopez’s. Ask your stylist to add face framing highlights that get lighter towards the ends. For natural-looking results, request a light or medium brown base.

Ombré streaks are still in style, but this year it’s more about easily blendable shades rather than dramatically dyed ends–the point is to avoid looking like you’re in desperate need of touching up your roots. That means NO black base and blonde ends chicas!  If you have dark brown hair like Salma Hayek’s, ask your colorist to dye your mid-length and ends only two or three shades lighter than your natural color. Medium ash brown or chestnut colors will complement a dark base best.

Dark ash brown hair looks good against most skin tones, but It tends to look best on dark, olive, and medium tan complexions like Dania Ramirez’s. For fairer complexions, try to have layers added throughout your head to keep the color from looking too overwhelming or harsh.

Not everyone can pull off this deep shade like Camila Alves can. Dark black hues tend to look best on olive, medium, and dark skin tones. For fair or light complexions, start off with a dark brown or soft black instead. Jet black hair can easily wash out very pale skin.
