One of the hardest parts about dieting is getting together with family and friends after work. During the work hours, I am very good about keeping the calories down: I'll have some cereal or oatmeal at my desk when I first get in, refill my water bottle all day, snack on fruit that I brought from home and even buy a healthy salad for lunch. All of my resolve, though, tends to fly out the window the minute I get home and see Abuelita's cooking on the dinner table. Well, the new 8-Hour Diet promises to help you drop all of your post-Holiday weight and more, but ONLY if you refuse to eat before 9am and after 5pm. Say what?!

That's what David Zinczenko, the Editor-in-Chief of Men's Health magazine, claims in his new weight loss book The 8-Hour Diet: Watch the Pounds Disappear Without Watching What You Eat! I admit that the subtitle of the book is REALLY tempting. I mean, is he really serious that I'll lose weight if I don't eat unless it's between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.? Or, presumably, any other 8-hour period during the 24-hour day?
In a story reported by Jezebel.com, it all sounds like some kind of magic but, to me, it also sounds like THE most depressing diet ever. I don't think I could do a diet that would take me from time away with my family and friends. I mean, just think: you can't ever have a date night with your man or a quiet dinner with your kids. Sure, you can sit there and watch them eat but I sincerely doubt anyone has this kind of iron will-power. Personally, I think I'd rather have a salad during the day and then be able to enjoy my evening meal with my loved ones than suffer through just 8 hours of eating cake all by myself.
