It's National Sangria Day! Can you seriously think of a better holiday to celebrate? Forget Christmas and New Year's coming up, THIS is the day that I want to throw a little fiesta.
Well, whether you're a lover of sangria or not, I'm here to tell you that it is an absolute MUST on your to-do list today. Now, I'm not advocating you go crazy or anything, but I do highly recommend that you make one of these 6 delicious sangria recipes to celebrate this boozy holiday today. I've even included one of my new favorite types of sangria, which I invented for a summer dinner party and have been obsessed with since: the papaya watermelon white sangria! Drink up and enjoy!

Papaya watermelon white sangria
Ingredients
1 bottle sweet white wine, like riesling
1 cup white rum
1 cup watermelon juice
2 cups chopped watermelon
1 papaya, deseeded and mashed
Directions
Take your chilled white wine and pour it into a large pitcher. Add in the rum, watermelon juice, chopped watermelon, and mashed papaya. Mix well with a large spoon, then serve over ice. Enjoy!
Pomegranate sangria
Ingredients
1 (750 mL) bottle red wine (I used pinot noir)
2 cups pomegranate juice
2/3 cup brandy
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
2 pears, chopped
1 apple, chopped
Pomegranate seeds, for garnish

Ingredients
750 mL bottle dry red wine
1 cup light orange juice
1/4 cup brandy or cognac
1/4 cup orange liqueur
2 tablespoons sugar
2 medium oranges, sliced
2 cups club soda, chilled
Crushed ice and/or orange peel curls (optional)

Pineapple-mango sparkling sangria
Ingredients
1 bottle (500 mL) sweet muscat wine
2 cups pineapple, cubed
1 mango, peeled, pitted, and cubed
Small pinch saffron (optional)
1 bottle brut Cava
1 lime, thinly sliced, for garnish

Spicy red sangria
Ingredients
1 bottle of red wine (consider a malbec from Argentina to fit the spicy palate theme well!)
1 chili pepper or jalapeño (seeds removed and diced)
1 lime, cut into wedges
1 lemon, cut into wedges
1 orange, cut into wedges
1 mango, diced into cubes
1/2 cup honey or sugar
2 teaspoons Cholula hot sauce
1 shot rum
2 cups citrus-flavored cola (for those who prefer a little less sweet, use a bottle of club soda)
