(NOTE: Updated December 19, 2012 with clarifications.)
Moms are always looking for strollers that are comfortable, safe, and durable. But if you own the Baby Jogger City Versa, you will want to read closely. The City Versa Strollers is voluntarily recalling the stroller after it was found that the stroller has a locking issue that can cause it to collapse.
Reportedly, there have been no babies injured, but there have been six instances in which the frame failed to lock. The manufacturer is urging consumers to stop using the stroller and is offering them a free frame replacement. To keep your family safe and to prevent this from happening to you, read on to see which models have been affected.
It's alarming that a stroller company failed to adequately check their product before putting it on the market. Parents everywhere rely on strollers to take their infants for a stroll and the last thing they want to do is worry about a faulty product. The people who reported the issue with the Baby Jogger really lucked out because if the item has issues with locking, their child could've been badly injured.

If you're worried that you may own the item being recalled, the CPSC says the strollers affected have charcoal-colored metal frames with black, silver, red, or green fabric stroller seats and canopies. You should also check the black plastic side hinge below "Baby Jogger" and "City Versa" to find the date of manufacture.
The strollers in question were sold between May 15 and August 20. More than 10,000 of the pricey strollers ($450 to be exact) have been affected by this recall and have been sold via Buybuybaby.com, Albeebaby.com, Diapers.com, and other online retailers starting from July through October of this year.
Wow, for a baby item that was so popular, this manufacturer has probably lost many consumers after this recall. It's ridiculous that an item that is so expensive would break down so easily on people. After all, when someone pays that amount of money for a stroller, they're investing in it because they want their baby to have a sturdy and safe product–not a flimsy and risky one.
If you DO own one of these recalled strollers, make sure to reach out to the company at (877) 506-2213 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit www.babyjogger.com/recall or e-mail [email protected].
