1. Keep Yourself Hydrated

Drink water BEFORE going to bed, so that you'll have to use the bathroom the minute your alarm goes off. Also, drink a glass of water right after you wake up to stimulate your muscles to start moving.

2. Program the Coffee Maker

Get a coffee maker that you can actually program to start brewing right as you hear the buzz of the alarm. Nothing will get you out of bed quicker than going for that cup of cafecito. You can even keep the pot next to your bed to get you up even quicker!

3. Get Your Body Moving

Personally, I don't have the energy or motivation to exercise first thing in the morning. However, a little bit of movement can go a LONG way. Wake up to one of your favorite songs and, as you get out of bed, dance around the bedroom to get that body moving and ready to take on the morning!

4. Take a Morning Shower

I'm a HUGE believer in morning showers. Not only does it keep your hair looking fresh but the pounding of water on my shoudlers really wakes me up. Try to go for either really hot (my favorite) or mildly cold water to shock your circulation and get your blood flowing.

5. Get up WITH the Alarm

Don't let yourself hit the snooze button! I know it's easy to go to bed saying, "This time I will get up when I have to!", then wake up in the morning and lull yourself into another 10 minutes of sleep but do your best to resist. Instead, practice getting up immediately after your alarm goes off. Eventually, this morning ritual will become a habit. If it helps, set your alarm at its loudest setting across the room so that you at least have to force yourself out of bed to turn off that bleeping noise!
