It's inevitable that once pregnancy hits, you're going to gain weight, but it doesn't mean that you can't control the foods that you feed your body. Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you have to eat unhealthy junk food! Sure your sweet or salty tooth will strike up and while you can indulge, you should be eating healthfully overall in order to feed your baby the right nutrients.
This becomes next to impssible if you're always on the go. Eating too much of a good thing isn't good for you or the baby and all that extra weight can make it a much more difficult delivery and–even worse–make it harder to slip back into your skinny jeans!
Have no fear! We've compiled 5 filling and healthy snacks that you can easily throw in your purse! Take a look after the break:

Mini 100-calorie snack bags: Let's be honest, sometimes when that craving hits, there is no way any other food can substitute what your body wants. Listen to it, but don't overindulge. The best solution for this is to buy those 100-calorie snack packs that are pre-measured. Whether you must have chocolate chip cookies or those chips, this is the perfect solution to satisfy that hankering.
Fresh Fruits: Not all fruits need to be refrigerated, some are actually handy enough that you can carry in your purse! Carry a banana, apples, and oranges to get not only your health dose of potassium, fiber, and vitamin C, but to protect your immune system and keep you feeling fuller longer.
Nuts and dried fruit: Creating your own trail mix with nuts such as walnuts, sunflower seeds, dried apricots and more will give you a dose of Vitamin A, protein, Vitamin K and iron rich foods you need for your prenatal health.
String cheese: Get your calcium with easy and portable string cheese. Pair it with your favorite whole grain crackers and pretzels for a filling snack. Just make sure you don't leave it without refrigerating for too long!
Yogurt: As long as it doesn't stay in your purse too long, yogurt is a great way to get those probiotics and calcium in. Carry a whole grain granola bar to crumble and toss in for a filling and nutritious snack.
By trying your best to eat well during your pregnancy, not only will it keep you and the baby healthy, but think of it this way: getting back to your pre-pregnancy body will be easier. Plus they are good habits to maintain ever after you're no longer with child. Enjoy!
