Super easy tips to glam up your holiday makeup look

With Thanksgiving here already and Christmas only a few days away, I'm already thinking about how I'm going to do my makeup this holiday season. For the longest I've been trying to achieve the dark berry lip look, but as much as I read up on it I can't seem to get it quite right. I fell in love with the fabulously festive look that L'Oréal Paris makeup artist, Lynda Esparza, did on me last week for the 2012 Latin Grammys. Esparza kept the focus on my pout by applying a party-ready, but less dramatic eye shadow shade to my lids. This is definitely a look I plan on trying again myself for Nochebuena and maybe even on New Year's Eve too! Check out a few of her easy-to-follow tips below to get this glamorous holiday look at home!

Face: Esparza prepped my skin with a BB cream that also functions as a makeup primer. Try, Dr. Jart + BB Premium Beauty Balm SPF45 ($39). She then applied  L'Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup (a smooth liquid foundation) in W6 ($11) on my face using a foundation brush.

Bronzer was used to highlight and carve the cheek bones while blush was applied to the apples of my cheeks. She applied a concealer in a shade lighter than my skin tone to brighten the areas of my face that she wanted to highlight. I personally love Lancôme Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer ($30). Concealer was also applied underneath the eyes in a triangle shape and was used to highlight the bridge of my nose, my cupid's bow, chin and forehead. Powder was brushed on to help keep the color and foundation in place.

Eyes: Esparza applied an eyeshadow primer to my eyelids (from the lash line to the brow bone) to help hold the shadow longer. Try Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer ($18). A taupe colored shadow was applied all over my lids. "This color is great for all eye colors," Esparza told me. For a similar shade, try Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Taupe ($28). A neutral color was then used to blend the color up and create a fading effect, followed by a highlighting shadow that was used to highlight my brow bones. This same shade was applied to the outer corner of my eyes to make them pop. Using an eyeliner brush, she then applied a gel eyeliner on both the lower inner eye rims and on the top lash lines. Try, Noir Cosmetics Royal Black Gel Eyeliner ($16).

For an oomph of glamour, Esparza applied faux lash strips using eyelash glue about a half inch away from my upper lash lines. She recommends waiting  until the glue gets tacky before applying so that they stick well. Try Andrea Modlash False Eyelash Strips ($3). My natural lashes and the faux lashes were then blended together with mascara.

Lips: Now for my favorite part of the look! Esparza achieved this flattering berry shade by combining two lipsticks, L'Oréal Paris Colour Caresse by Colour Riche Luminous Lipcolour in Cardinal Plum ($10) and in Cherry Tulle ($10). The combination of warm and cool undertones makes this rich mixture work on any skin tone. She brushed on the two shades using a lipstick brush, for a perfectly precise application.
