I recently read about the death of Brazilian model Pamela Baris do Nascimento, who passed away after suffering a fatal hemorrhage while undergoing her third liposuction.
Of course it's always sad to hear about someone dying due to complications during a surgical procedure, but when someone suddenly dies as a result of a cosmetic surgery, it doesn't just sadden me, it REALLY upsets me. It's almost like seeing someone die in complete vain.
According to Fox News, the 27-year-old model's aunt, Enedida Nascimento, alerted police after noticing that it took Green Hill Hospital in Sao Paulo 10 days to finally register the death. Police are now investigating to see whether or not she died of a perforated kidney or a punctured liver while undergoing the surgery. What's the difference? According to reports, a perforated kidney would mean that she died before the operation was even over, meaning the surgery was only finished to hide the mistake. Can you imagine!?

Now what was a trim, attractive looking model like Nascimento doing getting not her first, but her THIRD liposuction? Her aunt told Fox that her niece was very obsessed with her looks. "She was always telling me how fat she thought she was," the distressed aunt said to Fox News. "But she didn't tell me about this latest liposuction. If she had told me I wouldn't have let her."
The Brazilian model was also a successful television presenter who appeared in various shows in Brazil, while studying biomedicine on the side. This death is just so sad to me, because she clearly had so much going on for her and could have really done without another cosmetic procedure.
Which brings me to my next point: Why do so many women feel it's necessary to go under the knife to fix their appearance? I can't tell you how many times I've heard about beautiful women taking out loans or spending ridiculous amounts of money to get a little tweak here and there. Just last year, a cousin of mine was telling me how a few of her girlfriends flew out to Dominican Republic to get lipo and butt injections done.
Whenever you decide to go through a surgical procedure, there's always a chance of complications, so unless it's something you absolutely NEED to get, why put your life at risk? Don't get me wrong–I'm not totally against plastic surgery! All I'm saying is that if you don' t love yourself the way you are, no amount of plastic surgery will ever cure your insecurities. But do make sure if you are going to go under the knife, you research your doctor and where the procedure is being done.
