I don't know about you, but I'm kind of over the whole ombré hair trend. Even though it is pretty hot and still REALLY popular! Nothing against ombré or anything, just tired of seeing it on so many heads these days. Though I have to admit, I'm really loving the ombré look on lips! Believe it or not, the two-tone look is actually quite sexy and subtly contours your mouth. Models at the Wes Gordon Spring/Summer 2013 New York Fashion Week show sported a prettier similar look. "Wes wanted a 'high priestess with a bit of a gothic twist' look,' said makeup artist for Maybelline New York, Charlotte Willer. Check out a few of her tips below to get this sexy –looking pout yourself at home!
Step 1: This looks best with a fresh, clean face. Charlotte started off using a BB cream to blur out imperfections for a flawless complexion. I love Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 ($39). It comes in a variety of shades that work great for Latina skin tones!
Step 2: She then applied a highlighting concealer under the eyes to add a touch of brightness to the face. Check out GloMinerals gloBrightener Hight Concealer ($17).
Step 3: Charlotte applied a liquid liner like Maybelline Eyestudio Master Precise Liquid Ink Pen Liner ($8), which was drawn along the upper lash line in quick uneven strokes to create smudgy definition. Followed by a few coats of a lengthening mascara onto upper and lower lashes.
Step 4: Charlotte dabbed a fresh gel-based blush onto cheeks for a subtle, natural flush. I love Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Peachy ($18).
Step 5: Finally for the lips, I'd prep them first using a lip scrub like Fresh Sugar Lip Polish ($23). Or for a cheaper fix, just mix two tablespoons of brown sugar with a tablespoon of olive to buff away chapped flakes.
Step 6: To get the ombré look, Charlotte applied Maybelline's Stay 10 HR Stain Gloss in both Berry Heavenly ($9) and Fresh Fuchsia ($9) onto the center of lips. She then smeared and blended color outward using her fingers for an "undone" and two-toned effect!
