1. Colander for your laundry: I don't know about you, but I never toss my fancy lingerie or bras in the washer. The best way to keep your delicates in good condition is by hand-washing them in your sink. Use an old colander to shield them from any residue that may be in your bathroom sink, like tooth paste, makeup remover, detergents or peroxide.

2. Embellish your sweaters: Got some old ribbons or buttons hanging around? Use a glue gun and stick some on an old, plain cardigan for a new, fancy-looking piece!

3. Color your jeans: Have a favorite pair of jeans that are now all worn out and faded? Would you dare to dye them? Use this easy-to-follow guide on how to successfully dye your denims at home with widely available clothing dye. The easiest is to go for classic and dye them a rich black. Or try Dylon dyes, which are specifically formulated for jeans and do the job in the washer.

4. Resize your clothes: If you have tons of thread and pins stored in a drawer somewhere, make use of them by resizing an old boxy sweater or an oversized shirt. Simply turn your sweater or blouse inside out, put it on and pin the excess. Then take it off and sew along the pins for a more feminine and flattering shape.

5. Organize with shoe boxes: Don't throw out your shoe boxes after a recent purchase. Instead, cut them in half (along the length or width) and place them in your lingerie drawer to help organize and maintain and separate your panties, socks, and bras.

6. Felt pads on your hangers: I always get a loose thread on my sweaters or delicate garments whenever they slip off of my hangers. To prevent that from happening, take some old wool felt and cut out two small circles. Then clue or tape the circles onto the edges of an old metal hanger. This will help keep clothes in place.

7. Take a hot shower: Don't have a steamer? Whenever I have an old (or new), very delicate dress or clothing piece that's wrinkled but too delicate to be ironed, my mom always suggests I leave it hanging in the after a nice, steamy bath. I used this trick on a bridesmaid dress, and believe me, it really worked!
