Lay low on the shampoo
Dry air and cold weather can cause your hair and scalp to dry. Try to limit your hair washing regimen to every other day or less if you can. This will help your strands retain its natural oils and stay conditioned. Suffering from flakes? Try a treatment like Moroccanoil Dry Scalp treatment ($35) to treat dry scalp or dandruff.
Avoid the static
Strong winds can lead to static cling and tangled hair. Try incorporating a good leave-in conditioner into your hair regimen to combat tangles and breakage. For static try using a hairspray that includes static-fighting benefits like Oscar Blandi Lacca Hairspray ($11). This volumizing hairspray is formulated with sugar and honey that works to fight static and condition hair.
Tame flyaways
There’s nothing more annoying than little pelitos sticking out! Whenever I wear my hair back in a ponytail or bun, I apply a little bit of clear mascara at the front to fight flyways. For an even better fix, try John Frieda’s Full Repair Touch-Up Flyway Tamer ($9).
Nourish your strands
To maintain healthy, shiny hair, apply a conditioning hair mask to your strands at least once a week. For normal to dry hair try, Shu Uemura Moisture Velvet Nourishing Treatment Masque ($68). This intensely hydrating treatment left my tresses super smooth from roots to ends. For thin or oily hair, try a light mask that won’t weight down your hair like Ojon Intense Volumizing 2-Minute Hair Mask ($20). This light-weight formula highly conditions your stands while also building volume.
Fight hat hair
When you’re wearing a hat, flat hair and dents can seem inevitable. Keep a volumizing spray in your purse and spray directly at your roots to spruce up flattened hair. Then try Massaging your head with your fingertips to reshape your strands and remove the hat dent. Try Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play Volumizing Hairspray ($17).
