It looks like the French Twist is back and sleeker than ever! Redken Creative Consultant Guido created an edgier version of the retro style at the Nina Ricci Spring/Summer 2013 Paris Fashion Week show. The stylist took inspiration from the feminine, provocative collection. "I created a simple, French twist, it's a very feminine look and extremely easy to do," says Guido, "I also like that it's in fact very modern. I pulled out a few pieces towards the nape of the neck to give the style a little character, to ensure it wasn't completely perfect, she's still a real woman." W
hat I loved about this look is not only is it pretty wearable, but it still retains that classic, sophisticated look you normally associate a French twist with. Check out a few of Guido's tips below to get the look at home!

Step 1: Start off by applying a volumizing mousse like Redken Full Frame to dry hair from roots to ends, raking through with fingers.
Step 2: Brush through with a natural bristle brush, without making a part.
Step 3: Blow dry hair that's been dampened from the mousse with a diffuser, lifting at the roots and pulling towards the back of the head, so it's not flat.
Step 4: Wrap hair up into a French twist, using the tail of a comb to tuck the ends of the hair under the twist. Use bobby pins to hold in place.
Step 5: Then pull a few bits of the ends of the hair out of the twist and down towards the nape in the back. Make sure to keep it tight so the style keeps its shape.
Step 6: Spray the twist with a strong hold hair spray to hold the shape. I like L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray in Extra Strong Hold Unscented. Then apply a generous amount of a shine glistening mist for polished, shiny looking hair. Try Frederic Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Sheer Shine Mist.
