Wool coat
Wool coats tend to be on the pricey side, so it hurts to throw them away. I like to revamp my old styles by adding some fun new buttons. New buttons can totally change the look of your coat. Your local fabric store should offer a wide range of selections. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to find some at a nearby vintage shop!
Jeans
You have yet to find a pair of jeans that fits as perfect as those outdated bell bottoms or boot-cuts! So update them by converting them into a slimmer style. Make sure it’s a pair of boot leg denims that fit you snug from the waist all the way down to the knees and flares at the hems. Take them to a tailor and ask them to take in the inner and outer seams from the knees down, and you’ll have a chic new pair of skinny jeans!
White button down shirt
Update your classic, but boring white button down by creating a decorative collar. You can sew in some stylish buttons or add some faux pearls, embellishments or whatever you like using a glue gun.
Black cocktail dress
You spent way more than you wanted on that long black dress, and only wore it once! Take it to a tailor and have them shorten the hem to make a cute mini LBD!
Heels
Before you decide it’s time to toss away those old pair of stilletos you spent a fortune on, take them to a shoe repair shop and get the heel tip replaced. Because these wear away so easily, ask for them to put well-made heel caps (even if it cost you more) which will help your shoes last longer and look as good as new! And if you're iffy about the color, a good shoe repair shop can even dye them a different color (so you can make those weird lime green wedding shoes a perfect, wearable black!).
Leather Boots
Depending on how worn out they are, you can probably save your old leather boots with a nice polish. First brush off any dirt and then wipe down the leather with a damp cotton t-shirt or cloth to remove any dirt or dust built up. Allow it to air dry, and then apply a small amount of leather shoe polish onto a cloth and condition the surface of the boot, rubbing in a small circular motion. Then remove excess polish residue with the brush. Take a cloth or t-shirt and buff out the rest of your shoe as it shines. You can take them to any shoe repair shop and have them resoled as well–and they'll be better than new!
