Almost losing a child is scary enough…but imagine having your child die and then be resurrected! That's what Trudy and Dave Hilary, a couple in the U.K, experienced after their toddler suffered a heart attack that stopped his heart for 39 terrifying minutes. Thankfully, Zach was able to be resuscitated and is now recovering, which has doctors declaring him a medical miracle!
The frightening ordeal occurred in January when Trudy saw Zach had collapsed and started to perform CPR. She called 999 (the UK's equivalent of 911) and when paramedics arrived, they worked on reviving him and transferred him to a nearby hospital. Once there, the young boy was given several adrenaline shocks and eventually, his heart started beating normally.

It was only while this was all occurring at the hospital that the parents were able to fully grasped what was going on. "It felt like an absolute lifetime waiting to find out if he would live or die. The doctors told me that the prognosis was not good, that his heart had stopped beating for 39 minutes, and to prepare myself for the worst. It was just devastating," Trudy told The Telegraph.
But while the paramedics were able to get his heart beating again, there were still complications, including swelling in Zach's brain. For nine days, he was put on a ventilator and when he was able to breathe on his own, the MRI scan showed he had suffered brain damage that impaired his memory. The toddler wasn't able to recognize even his closest family members.

The real marvel came after two weeks of therapy, when Zach looked at Trudy and said "M" as if he was trying to say "Mama." From then on, he was able to progress quickly (he had to re-learn how to walk, eat, hold a cup, talk, etc) and was released a month later.
Wow what an amazing story! Can you imagine what that must have been like for those poor parents? They are so lucky that Zach was able to recover so rapidly and is now an active, normal toddler. His story truly is a miraculous one and I hope that he just gets to enjoy a happy and healthy childhood from now on.
