I've been trying to wrap my head around the idea of taking a 6-year-old girl to get her legs and/or armpits waxed and I simply haven't been able to do so. Apparently, though, some moms are totally fine with that. According to waxing salons across the country, younger children are coming in to get all sorts of wax jobs. Although some spas require their clientele to be a minimum age–usually at least 16–many don't. That's why it's possible for a kindergartener to go to a spa and have her eyebrows waxed!
WTH? I'm sorry, but what kind of mom would actually think taking their young daughter to get a wax job is a good idea?

A few months ago, I noticed my daughter Vanessa, who will be 6-years-old in July, had some hair growing on her hair right below her knees. I was a bit shocked because I thought she was way too young for that, but I didn't really make a big deal out of it. When I mentioned it to her in passing, she didn't think much of it–except to say that she was getting big. Not sure where she got that, but that's what she said.
Never in a million years did the thought of having her hair removed from her legs with wax cross my mind. I mean, we're talking about a child who just graduated kindergarten for God's sake! Why would I want to inflict pain on her at such a young age and, in the process, teach her that she must do that so what, so she can look pretty or something?
Growing up, I wasn't allowed to shave my legs until well into my teenage years. I want to say maybe 15 or 16. I didn't get my eyebrows waxed until after college–although I would've done it earlier if I didn't think it was so expensive, considering how often you have to get it done. I'm really not looking forward to the day my daughter asks if she can do any of these things, so I can't really fathom the idea of taking her to a waxing salon myself.
