In a story that's both incredibly sad and yet amazingly heartwarming, a five-year-old boy suffering from leukemia is living out the rest of his days by helping others.
Leland Camara first got diagnosed with the disease in September and though he has had some tough days throughout his battle, he's remained a positive and gracious attitude. In fact, he's so thankful to the people who have helped him through his illness that he's decided to return the favor.
After getting paired with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Camara only asked for two things: a trip to Disneyland for him and his family and an opportunity to pass on the kindness that he received by serving food at Kid's Kitchen, a program that gives free meals to children.
Make-a-Wish was happy to help and Leland was able to get both wishes granted at once, lending a helping hand while also receiving a bon voyage party for his trip to Disneyland. And what were his reasons for being so selfless? "I wanted to help out," he said.
Aww! Have you ever seen anything so kind and inspiring from someone so young? He's only 5-years-old and already it seems like he has a heart of gold! His amazing attitude and spirit is so moving and encouraging. I can't imagine what it must be like to suffer through such a disease at that age and yet, Camara still manages to put on a brave face and find time for others. His optimism reminds me of how important it is to stay positive and that no matter what I might be going through, tthere's always time to give help!
I hope Leland has a fantastic, unforgettable time in Disneyland. He definitely deserves it!
