Weight Loss Challenge Day #4: Let’s get physical!

OK, so it is day 4 of our Mamás Latinas weight loss challenge and it's time to get our booties in motion__! Since I am DEFINITELY not a morning person (thanks for all of you who totally identified, it made me feel so much better!) I have to find other ways to squeeze in workouts besides waking up in the morning to fit in a workout.

I'm lucky because I live in NYC so I sort of HAVE to walk–I mean, I don't really have a choice here! This is great for me because I found a SUPER easy way to sneak in some more walking: I get off a stop earlier than normal to and from work so I have to walk 10 blocks instead of just 3. I also found out that walking the dog does indeed count as exercise! But I know I'll need to up the intensity to really get to my goals.

I'm still young and have a lot of energy so I'm still going to try to get 30 minutes of real cardio in everyday with this new DVD I bought called Exhale: Core Fusion Cardio Pure Intensity ($14.44, acacia.com). I opted for this DVD because they break up the workouts into 10 minute intervals so even if I just get 10 minutes of free time, I can squeeze something in.

I've been hearing about this class for years, so the second it came out on DVD I wanted in. I don't really do classes at the gym because I hate gyms and I hate the competitive aspect of working out that happens in a lot of classes here in NYC.These workouts also target one of my big problem areas (my core) while combining strength training with cardio which makes it a match made in heaven for me!

It gets hectic every day with my schedule. Between working, cooking, cleaning, going to school for my MA and taking care of a hubby and a puppy–I feel like I barely have a second to breath. This is what leads me to my next question: How do you mami's do it?! I can't even imagine how much more packed the schedule would be if I had a little one waiting for me at home!

Any of you have tips on how to schedule time in to take care of yourself? Has it been hard to find ways to sneak in some exercise?
