When a friend of mine became pregnant, I got really excited. I'm one of those people that absolutely loves buying baby clothes and goes "awwww" whenever I see a little girl in her cute little outfit. But one thing that I hadn't spent a lot of time considering is decorations for the nursery.
As her due date approached and her shower came and went, I began thinking of what else she could possibly need. One of the things I loved most in my search was baby mobiles. They help to pull the room together as they hang over your baby's crib, allowing your child to develop as they watch the pretty colors or play with the hanging toys.
Although when I was a kid, my mom made mine, today it's easy to buy the most adorable one on the market. Unless, of course, you're crafty and want to try making your own anyway.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow Mobile: The dash of color in this unique, handcrafted mobile is so fun that it will brighten up any kid's room. Available on Etsy.com, $55.

Tiny Love Princess Mobile: For the mom that is having a baby girl and wants to decorate the room in pink, this butterfly and flower one is ideal. Available on Walmart.com, $45.

Leka Circus Mobile: Whether it's for a boy or for a girl, this plush animal mobile looks just like the inside of a circus—with the cute balloons to prove it. Available on Ikea.com, $10.

Wee Gallery Mobile: For a more minimalist and personalized approach, this metal mobile allows you to add family photographs printed on card stock. Available on Amazon.com, $9.

Tiddliwinks Under the Sea Mobile: For the family that swims together, this aquatic-themed mobile with a starfish and dolphin is the absolute best. Available on Target.com, $24.
If you're looking for something more unique (and love to craft, like I do), making your own crib mobile is easier than it sounds. Some options include a bird mobile from spool, a ribbon mobile from Martha Stewart and even stuffed balls for boys. Plus there are homemade baby mobile kits to get you started. Now you just have to decide how many the room can handle because, when they're this adorable, who can have just one?
Do you like to buy a baby mobile or do you try crafting your own?
