Elegance and glamour rule the 2012 Oscar Red Carpet (PHOTOS)

The red carpet at the 84th Academy Awards was a feast to any fashionistas eyes and mine are no exception! While it was all about elegance and glamour from the time the first star stepped on to the red carpet, missing were the jaw dropping curves and the outrageous Lady Gaga like wacky fashion statements. Young actresses covered up, there was not a whole lot of over the top bling, bling, and hairs were all in place. All in all, everyone kept it together and there are no disasters to go on and on about for days to come. Boo-hooo!

There is much to drool over tough. My favorite dresses tonight featured two of these season's greatest trends: the color white and the magnificent metallic trend. Now on to my top picks for best dresses…

Yes, the pressure was on for Jennifer Lopez, and again this Latina did not dissapoint in a Zuhair Murad dress tonight. Thank you amiga for bringing sexy to the carpet in a beautiful champagne colored gown that is one of my favorite dresses of the evening! Ah!!! And with no Casper Smart in sight, I have to go back to the "less is more" ladies so why overdo it with unnecessary accessories, right?!

Penélope Cruz, in a custom blue Armani dress, looked like a Disney princess. Didn't love the dress but the overall look was so pretty.

__Thanks Carolina Herrera for choosing Tina Fey to dress with your classical, timeless and elegant touch. Fey has never looked more beautiful!

Let's talk about some other kind of perfection now though. George Clooney's girlfriend Stacey Kiebler looked like a golden statue in a Marchessa dress that is to die for!!! Draped from top to bottom, Kiebler was absolutely perfect and my favorite one of the night.

Cameron Díaz was flawless in a nude strapless dress accented with ruffles down one side. She was sophisticated and glamorous, and held her own quite beautifully and was not outshined by co-presenter Jennifer Lopez.

Gorgeous simplicity. That's how I would describe Gwyneth Paltrow in a white gown with cape. She blew me away! I would have never picked that dress from a hanger, but seen on her I'd have to rethink. I WANT IT!!

Camera zooms in to best actress nominee Viola Davis, and first thing that I have to say is: "Bravo Viola! Bravo for wearing your hair natural and bravo for your dress choice: a stunning emerald green Vera Wang strapless dress that played a fabulous contrast with your skin tone and made you stand out beautifully."

Rooney Mara, lead actress from The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, was exquisite in a white gown by Givenchy, a dress she says to have picked hours just before the event. Mara chose to keep it simple with almost no jewelry, hair pulled back and a nice red smile that is her one and only accessory!

__One of tonight's presenters who totally caught my eye in a gorgeous red Giambattista Valli gown is Emma Stone. Goodbye girl next door, hello Hollywood belle! Love the hair, love the accessories.

Jessica Chastain, supporting actress nominee from The Help, shone in a McQueen gold and black dress that made her look like a queen (no doubt the 2 million dollars worth of jewelry she carried on her made her feel like one too).

Best actress nominee Michelle Williams, looked as lovely as ever in a deep coral Louis Vuitton strapless peplum style gown (so girlie!). Ruffles might not be my thing, but the soft cascade of ruffles in Williams dress was perfect, and her Forever Mark necklace a delicate touch I happen to love.

And last but not least, let's give it to the boys, all so sharp in their tuxedos. But above all, didn't you just LOV Demian Bichir tonight? Hand in hand with mom Maricruz and girlfriend Stefanie, the lead actor nominee for A Better Life was very handsome (and twenty pounds lighter than in the movie might I add) in a classic tux. We just love his winning attitude!
