I LOVE getting my nails done. Seriously, it is one of my favorite activities in the world to indulge in. But I'm not really sure how I feel about nail art. Watching the Golden Globes on Sunday night though, I have to say that Zooey Deschanel's adorable black tie nails did nudge me in the direction of finding decorating your tips a little bit more acceptable.
I guess for me, the idea of nail art has always been tied to Ivy Queen-style dragon talons and the toxic fumes that come with acrylics. But there seems to have been a change lately in the way that nail art is not only perceived, but also the way it is done.
Back in the day nail art was only possible if you were willing to get some sort of airbrushed design applied to fake nails, but these days, it's a legitimate forum for artistic expression and just about anyone can do it.
Just search "nail art" on Youtube.com and you'll see thousands of tutorials teaching you how to recreate leopard or marble designs on your nails, I even found one for newsprint (my personal favorite). It's actually super easy and tons of celebs are jumping on the bandwagon. Zooey took her nails formal, but Fergie and Katey Perry were early adapters of this craze and have been going all out with their manicures for the last couple of years.
I think I'm way more willing now to move away from my solid polish standbys and try some of these quirkier designs. How about you?
Are you into nail art? Would you ever try out funky new designs on your nails?
