I've always been one of those people who is accused of having an old soul. I'm not exactly sure what people mean by that, but I think it has something to do with how I'll really be in my prime when I'm abuela-age. The closer I get to that stage in my life, the more I embrace it. Shoot even if I never actually have any grandkids, I'm totally going to rock the whole abuela demeanor, why not? For now, I'm cultivating a few things that I think will make me one of the coolest viejitas around and you can too.

- You always have pan dulce and chocolate caliente ready for an afternoon snack.
- You read the newspaper EVERY day (preferably La Opinión) because you still care about what is going on in the world.
- You tell the same stories over and over because you know what, they are totally worth re-telling!
- No one, but no one makes a better caldo than you.
- When you go for a walk around the block, you can point out which plants are manzanilla and yerbabuena.
- You would never be caught without Vicks Vaporub in your home.
- You know your way around a crotchet hook and knitting needles.
- You give the best most wonderful hugs EVER!
