The 7 best sunscreens this summer

There's a new beauty product out that I just NEED to talk about. Apparently there's a drinkable sunscreen that's said to provide you with the same amount of SPF 30-like protection as any of those SPF lotions or sprays you apply topically to your skin. Osmosis Skincare's UV Neutralized Harmonized Water uses purified water and unique vibrational waves that supposedly work to neutralize and protect you from UV rays. It also claims to enhance tanning effects from the sun, at least that's what it says on their site. Am I the only one who smells BS here?

It's hard for me to believe that purified water that comes in a 3.38-ounce bottle and retails for $30 is enough to protect my skin from the sun and lessen my chances of developing burns or even skin cancer. I really hope no one else is buying into this nonsense because if it really doesn't work, this could be potentially dangerous for people who decide to use this without applying real sunscreen. Did I mention that the Food and Drug Administration hasn't evaluated any of these claims? And Dr. Ben Johnson, the founder and formulator of Osmosis Skincare isn't even a dermatologist!

Dr. Jessica Krant, an actual dermatologist who practices in New York told the Huffington Post that the products are "totally unsubstantiated pseudoscience" that "do not list any active ingredients anywhere publicly available that might suggest true efficacy in any kind of protection from sun damage." Go figure!

What did I say? Sorry, but until the FDA approves it and this company can come up with real scientific evidence that this thing really does work, I'm sticking to my SPF lotions. There are a ton of great ones out there that definitely get the job done. In fact, here are some of the best sunscreens for summer 2014! Be sure to try these instead!
