Before we get to the part where I share some tasty cocktails you can enjoy on Cinco de Mayo, let's chat a little bit about the holiday. Cinco de Mayo, celebrated on the 5th of May every year, commemorates the Mexican army's defeat of the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. In Mexico, it's not really a major holiday, but somehow in the United States it has morphed more into a celebration of all things Mexican. A lot of people who celebrate the holiday in the US are not Mexican, and many have no idea that it has anything to do with a battle that happened in the Mexican state of Puebla. Instead, many use it as an opportunity to enjoy Mexican food and cocktails, because YUM and GLUG-GLUG-GLUG! The holiday is even referred to as Cinco de Drinko because it's an excuse to get boozy.

Instead, I'd like to suggest that if you are going to enjoy a boozy drink, consider something other than Mexican beer and margaritas.
